Shelly’s Tips

I know that it can be difficult choosing aids, equipment and home modifications when there is so much variety to choose from. I have a lot of experience in prescribing, finding and setting up equipment to meet many different needs. Although it is recommended that you seek specialist help, such as an occupational therapist, to ensure the equipment matches your needs and budget, I know that many of you may already have purchased an aid or equipment.

That is why I aim to provide monthly Tips and Blogs – discussing specific types of aids and equipment and how and why you may benefit from using it. Knowing how equipment, aids and home modifications have helped people in the past will help you make choices based on their needs and experiences. I will also discuss what to consider when choosing an aid and ‘the risk’ factors that have been associated with it.

There are two existing Blogs you may like to read:

  1. A good chair is a good investment
  2. Personal Response Systems

If you would like to know more about occupational therapy services please go the the Occupational Therapy section of our site.

I would also love to hear from you if you have had a good experience with an aid or gadget and feel others may benefit from your experience. You can contact me at [email protected]

Wishing you all the utmost in health and wellbeing – Shelly
